Micro Mesh Fabric is a knitted fabric designed with small openings or a fine mesh structure. These openings allow greater air movement through the material compared with many densely knitted fabrics. This construction makes micro mesh particularly relevant for sports T-shirts, team jerseys, running apparel, gym wear and event clothing.
Polyester is commonly used for micro mesh sports fabrics because it has relatively low moisture absorption and works well for many athletic applications. However, the exact performance depends on yarn, knit structure, GSM and finishing. Therefore, standard micro mesh should not automatically be described as moisture-wicking or technical quick-dry fabric unless the specific material provides those properties.
Micro mesh can offer a lightweight feel while maintaining enough structure for sports and promotional garments. The size and density of the mesh openings can also vary. A finer micro mesh provides a different appearance from larger, more open sports mesh constructions.
Another advantage is its suitability for customized team and event apparel. Polyester micro mesh can work particularly well with sublimation when the fabric specification and colour are suitable.

Micro Mesh can support embroidery, but its open construction requires more care than dense fabrics such as piqué or interlock. Use suitable backing or stabilizer to support the mesh during stitching. Keep stitch density appropriate to the fabric weight and avoid unnecessarily dense designs. Small chest logos can work well when properly stabilized. Sample embroidery before bulk production for lightweight or highly open constructions.
